Toys
Each of the Mothercare pre-school toys are aimed at specific areas of play - water,
stacking and pull along. They marry charming characterization, play value and stimulation
with safety and economic production. The sailors bob animatedly in their boat, responding
to waves in the bath. The stacking/sorting element to the stacking sailor gives manipulative
and logical stimulation and provides pouring and sieving vessels for sand and water
play. The pull along snail rises and dips accompanied by a gently tinkling bell.
Colour, shape and teething efficiency were the driving elements behind the Playskool
teething keys. Blow-moulded in polyethylene they have a satisfying "bite". Safety
in this area is crucial and part of the design exercise necessitated testing the
design proposals for compliance against the appropriate choking hazard test specification.
